Royal Britain Peak Trek

Trip Overview

An unnamed one of the peak has been named as Royal Britain Peak in honor of New Futures Nepal's humanitarian contribution in Mahakulung, the southern slopes of Mount Everest. Trek to here is great opportunity to experience the beauties of nature and culture both as well as hospitality at the same time. The Royal Britain Peak is located at an elevation of 5200 meters from sea level. From the Everest View Point, we can see a very close view of Royal Britain Peak including other worldwide famous mountains i.e. Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Tamsi, Mera Peak, and other many more.

Itinenary

  • Day-01: Arrival to Kathmandu (1400m)

    In Kathmandu International Airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign displaying your full name so that you can easily recognize us. We'll take you to a hotel and at the evening, we will share a lovely welcome dinner in one of Nepal's well-known kitchens, where you will be introduced to a very distinctive Nepalese cuisine.

  • Day-02: Jeep drive to Salleri (2362m) - 8 hrs

    Today, we have to drive 265 kilometers to get Salleri. We leave Kathmandu early morning and when we get Dhulikhel, we enjoy a complete morning vista of the Gauri Shankar Himalaya range to the northeast. After that, take a little drive down to the Sunkishi River. We follow the Sunkoshi River bank until we reach Ghurmi, at which point we cross it and start the zigzag ascent to Pattale. Pattale is a lovely village of Sherpa, a community of mountaineers. From Pattale, again drive down to Solu River, after crossing the river, we slightly climb up facing north to get Salleri bazaar.

  • Day-03: Jeep drive to Chheskam (2000m) - 4:30hrs

    After breakfast, we head to Chheskam. There is a paved road that leads up to Nele Bazaar. The road from Nele to Chheskam is a bit bumpy, not blacktopped. We travel down to the Dudhkoshi River through Deusa village, a beautiful Rai village. After crossing it, we climb to the east- north before heading straight east towards Chheskam. Today, we get to see the numbers of small villages, hills, rivers, local life styles and cultures along the way.

  • Day-04: Chheskam- Visiting School that NFN has been helping

    Today is more of a rest day as we tour schools. Local students and locals will greet us by presenting us with garlands of flowers and Khadas, Buddhist scarf. They will also entertain us by performing some traditional Kulung and Sherpa dances. We may wash our clothes and take a shower with boiled water on this almost-free day. We can also take a hike to some of the neighboring villages to see how the local people live.

  • Day-05: Chheskam – Boksuwar (2302m) - 6 hrs

    The little Sherpa village of Boksuwar is located east of Chheskam and across the Hunga river. We make a straight walk to Chhemsi village. After passing village, there is a short descent and straight walk to Hunga River. Our ascent begins when we pass the Hunga river. We will take lunch or take a short break Boksem, a field of mustard and buckwheat. While spending time at Boksem, we can enjoy the beauties of amazing landscape. Still, it would take us nearly 2.30 hours of climbing to reach the little, stunning Sherpa village of Boksuwar. Here, we stay the night and closely observe Sherpa culture and way of life.

  • Day-06: Boksuwar- Hilepani (2834m) – 5 hrs

    Through the Himalayan bamboo and the Alpine forest, we continue our ascent. The rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal, blooms throughout the months of March and April. From this day, we start to see the numbers of snow capped mountains in the north. After a 3:30-hours climb, we reach Daddi, where we will have lunch and take a break. We don't need to be hurry! Taking videos and in photos, we capture some breathtaking landscapes on our cameras. We climb again after lunch some 2:30 hours to get to Hilepani. In the magnificent grazing land of Hilepani, we spend the night.

  • Day-07: Hilepani-Kenpa Hill (3750m) – 5 hrs

    No rush at all today. It takes around 3 hours to walk from Hilepani to Kenpa Hill, which has a small ascent. The stunning hill of Kenpa offers a panoramic view of the Mahakulung Valley and the Giant Mountains to the east and north. Here, we have lunch and spend the entire day acclimatizing. You can also hike to Everest View Point to witness the breathtaking view of Royal Britain Peak (Optional).

  • Day-08: Kenpa Hill – Everest View Point (4200m) - Kamire (3242m) – 6 hrs

    For all of us, today is a big and important day. We start our ascent to Everest View Point early in the morning. From Kenpa Hill to Everest View Point, the trail takes around 2:30 hours. Along the route, we can see a wide variety of plant and animal species. The most notable thing is that we get to see an incredible sunrise over the Royal Britain Peak and other famous mountains, such Mount Everest. If the weather is favorable, we can stay longer to enjoy the beautiful view of the Himalayas and the breathtaking scenery of the Mahakulung valley. After spending time on top, we proceed to Kamire, an amazing pasture land. The trail from Everest View Point to Kamire is very easy; straight walk facing east-south.

  • Day-09: Kamire to Bukur Base Camp (3400m) – 6 hrs

    The trail leads us south of Royal Britain Peak today. We follow the edges of hills up to the Bukur Peak base camp. We experience relatively little climbing and descending along the route. We pause on our way somewhere to eat a packed lunch. We get to observe breathtaking scenery to Mahakulung sides and other sides when going along the edge of hills. We continue to enjoy a stunning view of the Himalayas to the north. After reaching the base camp for Bukur Peak, we rest and explore the area around.

  • Day-10: Bukur Base Camp - Bukur Peak (4100m)– Mamerku (2505m) – 7 hrs

    We ascend Bukur Peak early in the morning to get even more breathtaking vistas of Nepal's hilly regions and the mountains to the north. Because of the breathtaking views of all of Nepal's Himalayan ranges from east to west that can be seen from the peak, people called it as Poon Hill of eastern Nepal. After a short stay at the summit, we will descend to Momerku, a lovely Sherpas and Kulungs village. We eat lunch today at Golobum before continuing to Momerku.

  • Day-11: Momerku- Chheskam (2000m) – 5 hrs

    We head down to the Hunga River after breakfast and proceed west towards Chheskam. Around 3 hrs of very easy walking we get Chheskam where we'll have lunch. If it's a sunny day, we'll take a bath after lunch and wash our clothes. It’s almost free day after Lunch, we can tour villages to learn more about the traditions and way of life of Kulung people.

  • Day-12: Chheskam – Salleri – 4:30 hrs

    No rush today at all; we ride a Jeep after breakfast. We descend to the Dudhkoshi River and ascend Budhidanda before reaching a black-topped motorway. We will pass through multiple villages along the way. If we get at Salleri bazar earlier, we take a short hike to Phaplu from where we can observe a large number of mountainous terrains.

  • Day-13: Salleri to KTM – 8 hrs

    Between Salleri and Kathmandu, there are paved highways. Early morning we take jeep and drive to Pattale for breakfast and mountain vistas including Mt. Everest. We hike up to the Pattale view point in order to enjoy the Himalaya range. We take photographs and videos for about 30 minutes, walk down to the jeep Today, we travel through Okhaldhunga bazaar to the Sunkoshi River. We'll stop for lunch somewhere along the middle route and enjoy daal-bhaat and few more local items. We make a couple stops for tea breaks and toilets without being in any haste.
